Day 12 in Cambridge

Woke up at 5am today. Think it was because I fell asleep before midnight last night. Manage to catch my darling online so it was pretty worth waking up that early. Chatted with her till almost 730am & I went down for breakfast before leaving for the factory. Had the usual scrambled eggs, sausages & mushrooms. It was filling.

Today was the first time our training started exactly at 830am. David Hubbard, the software guy who's name I failed to catch the other day was pretty much on the ball. But he was no where near snobbish. He too was quick & kind to point us in the right direction when we did not have a clue on how to write the macros.

He also showed us something called webex. It is basically a program that allows us to have remote access to a customer's equipment through a server in Germany. It is something like the Remote Desktop Connection in Microsoft Windows. Through this program, we can connect to the system & just takeover it & run everything like we are on site. Very handy if the customer is unable to describe the problem through the phone. But I don't think I'll get to use it in Singapore. Because we need to pay for the access & it is charged on a per minute basis. Great! I can forget it because it will only incur more cost for the company. Besides, most of my customer sites do not have internet access on the equipment as they are pretty wary of virus attacks. But I do hope I get that option.

Our training ended pretty early today. We left the factory by 4pm & David gave us a lift back to the guest house again. He was planning to have dinner at the bar where our guest house is. I stayed & had a beer with him & agreed to eat with him as dinner will only be served after 6pm. He went out shopping with Alexy after the beer while I retired to my room while waiting for them.

I had hoped to catch my darling online but it was already close to 2am in Singapore & she had to wake up early the next day. Didn't get to see my dearie online. Sigh...
